Trump Urges Press Secretary to Rethink Her Role
Trump Advises Zacharia to Reconsider Press Secretary Role
On Friday, President Donald Trump revealed that he advised his beleaguered White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, to think twice about continuing in her prominent position.
Shortly after Trump’s remarks, The New York Times reported, citing three anonymous sources, that Zacharia had been dismissed from her role just days after her appointment.
“I said to Katie just two minutes ago, I said, ‘Katie, you know, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want,'” Trump informed reporters at the White House.
He further noted that Zacharia acknowledged the job was “a lot tougher” than she had anticipated. Trump continued, saying, “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider. You think about it, but I would reconsider.”
Zacharia, a conservative commentator who identifies as a lawyer, made her debut in a White House press briefing on Tuesday, where she faced significant scrutiny regarding her legal qualifications.
On Thursday, she revealed that she had taken the bar exam but did not pass, and she has not attempted it again since then.
During his comments on Friday, Trump expressed that the media had treated Zacharia “very badly” and “very unfairly.”
“She’s been treated very rough, and she’s a nice person, very nice person,” Trump remarked. “I’ve watched her for years on television, but I said, ‘Is this for you, Katie? Because, honestly, you don’t need this.'”
He concluded by stating, “She’s been treated, I would say, very nastily.”
